Ren-Designed Fairy Tale Contest
Rewrite a fairy tale into the language and times of Elizabethan England.
Rules
- 1. Contest is open to Elementary School students in Grades 3-5, Middle School students in Grades 6-8, and youth groups whose members are aged 8-11 years.
- 2. Students may enter as individuals or as a group/class project.
- 3. All entries must be original work and submitted by the author, teacher, or group leader.
- 4. Group entries must be accompanied by a list of contributors.
- 5. Entries must be received no later than midnight EDT, May 1, 2009.
- 6. OOTW reserves the right to cancel the contest if insufficient entries are received.
- 7. All entries will be judged on originality and best interpretation of the Renaissance theme. The decision of the judges is final. Winners will be announced no later than May 16, 2009.
Awards
- 1st place - 1st place plaque will be awarded to individual or class/group. The winning fairy tale will be performed at the Virginia Renaissance Faire. Winning entries may be performed by selected students from the winning class/group or the cast of the Virginia Renaissance Faire. Individuals and/or all members of the class/group will receive a ticket to the Virginia Renaissance Faire.
- 2nd place - 2nd place plaque will be awarded to the individual or class/group. Individuals and/or all members of the class/group will receive a ticket to the Virginia Renaissance Faire.
- 3rd place - 3rd place plaque will be awarded to the individual or class/group. Individuals and/or all members of the class/group will receive a ticket to the Virginia Renaissance Faire.
All participates will receive a certificate of participation.
