Volunteers and Out of the Woodwork Productions

As a 501(c)(3) Non-profit corporation, volunteer hours with Out of the Woodwork Productions and the Virginia Renaissance Faire can be applied to the Community Service requirement for high school students, scouts, & others who may have community service obligations. There are numerous ways to partake in this mission and help history come to life. There are performance, technical, educational, marketing, and grounds crew opportunities available. Whenever possible opportunities to satisfy specific community service requirements for badge requirements may be available.

All performers are required to attempt period attire. Volunteer tech and grounds crew members need khaki pants or shorts and a plain, white t-shirt. Each volunteer performer, tech or crew member will receive free admission to the faire and a certificate of participation.

We would love your help in making historical magic. Please bring yourself as well as your skills, talents, and uniqueness to our group and family.

Service Opportunities with OOTW

Possible volunteer and service opportunities with OOTW can include the listed activities.

• Grow flowers and herbs for The Garden
• Volunteer for a weekend construction program.
• Volunteer to help collect data that can be used to assist an  organization (Possibly exit surveys)
• Help turn a vacant lot or other public space into an "oasis" by volunteering to landscape it. 
• Volunteer to help develop a PR campaign to publicize its services to the community or to youth.
• Design a patch using a desktop publishing or a drawing software package. 
• Volunteer to work on the Stafford Towne Crier newspaper. 
• Help design a Web page.
• Volunteer to assist with costume design or construction. 
• Volunteer as a gofer, ticket person, usher, or program writer. 
• Volunteer to help with games played in the past. 
• Volunteer to work on the Green Men, the OOTW Grounds Crew
• 
• Volunteer to work on the White Knights, the OOTW Security and First Aid Staff
