Art Contest

Design an original family crest, flag or banner that reflects the activities or history during Elizabethan England; or design a sign appropriate for a guild or merchant's shop that might have existed in Elizabethan England. Include a brief description of your project.

Contest Divisions are Elementary School (grades 3-5), Middle School (grades 6-8), High School (grades 9-12), and adult.

Rules

• 1. All entries must be original work.
• 2. No restriction on media that may be used.
Computer graphical designs are appropriate as long as they do not include any clip art or are derived from existing designs.
• 3. Entries must be submitted by the artist or guardian (if minor) and include the official submission form. One entry per artist.
• 4. If mailed, entries must be post marked no later than midnight EDT, May 1, 2010. Electronic submissions must be received no later than midnight EDT, May 1, 2010. Out Of The Woodwork (OOTW) is not responsible for any delivery failure.
• 5. OOTW reserves the right to cancel the contest if insufficient entries are received.
• 6. All entries will be judged on originality and best interpretation of the theme. The decision of the judges is final. Winners will be announced no later than May 16, 2010.

Awards

All entries will be displayed on the OOTW educational website (www.ootw-education.org) and participants will receive a certificate of participation. OOTW reserves the right not to display entries that do not follow the theme or would be considered inappropriate for a family oriented venue.

Winning designs will be displayed during the Virginia Renaissance Faire

Grand Prize - Presented to the best entry selected from 1st place winners. The grand prize winning design will be engraved on a wooden shield for display during the 2011 season. A duplicate shield will be presented to the grand prize winner during opening weekend of the 2011 season.

• 1st place per division - Four tickets to the Virginia Renaissance Faire
• 2nd place per division - Two tickets to the Virginia Renaissance Faire
• 3rd place per division - one ticket to the Virginia Renaissance Faire
